Our mission is to empower Sierra Leonean technologists by providing technical services, philanthropic support, and professional development opportunities. In addition, we establish strategic collaborations and partnerships to enhance the influence of technology in Sierra Leone and beyond. We believe in promoting social responsibility and advancing technological innovation to create a more equitable and prosperous future.
Sierra Leone is located in West Africa, bordered by Guinea to the north and east, Liberia to the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Its capital and largest city is Freetown. The country has a rich cultural heritage and is known for its beautiful beaches, wildlife, and diverse landscapes. Despite facing challenges related to poverty and infrastructure, Sierra Leone has a bright future and a strong spirit of resilience and determination.
Sierra Leoneans in Technology (SLinT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a vibrant technology community in Sierra Leone and the diaspora. With members in the diaspora and within Sierra Leone, our organization aims to bring together Subject Matter Experts (SME), businesses, students, and anyone interested in technology.
The Board of Directors comprises a diverse group of highly experienced and dedicated professionals who are passionate about driving change through technology. With engineering, business, and development backgrounds, the Board brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to their work with SLinT. Their commitment to promoting innovation and technology in Sierra Leone is matched only by their dedication to driving sustainable development and building a better future for the people of Sierra Leone. Through their leadership and vision, the Board is helping to shape the future of technology in Sierra Leone and inspire a new generation of tech leaders and innovators.
Technology can potentially improve the economic, educational, and social outcomes for individuals and communities in Sierra Leone, leading to a more sustainable and prosperous future for the country.
Technology can improve the economy of Sierra Leone by creating new opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs. This can be achieved by developing digital platforms that facilitate e-commerce and online transactions, using mobile money to increase financial inclusion, and developing new industries such as tech startups that can create jobs and drive economic growth.
Technology can improve education outcomes in Sierra Leone by increasing access to education and improving the quality of education. This can be achieved through developing online learning platforms, providing digital resources and tools to teachers and students, and using technology to connect learners with expert educators from around the world.
Technology can improve social outcomes in Sierra Leone by increasing access to healthcare, improving communication and connectivity, and promoting civic engagement. This can be achieved by developing telemedicine platforms that enable remote healthcare consultations, using social media and messaging apps to connect people and communities, and developing digital tools and platforms that enable citizens to engage with their government and hold elected officials accountable.
