Develop Africa is a nonprofit organization based in the United States that focuses on empowering lives in West Africa through education, training, and support. Some of Develop Africa’s programs include building schools, training teachers, providing educational materials, and supporting community development projects. Their mission is to empower individuals and communities in West Africa to break the cycle of poverty through education and training.

Mission

Develop Africa strategically empowers lives in Africa by providing educational opportunities and strengthening self-reliance so that individuals, families, and communities can create positive change in their own lives. We provide school supplies, scholarships, solar lights (so kids can study at night), mosquito nets (to keep children safe from malaria), computer/vocational training etc. We additionally provide microfinance loans, orphan care, and disaster relief. This helps them become self-sufficient and rise above the poverty line. When individuals and families are strengthened, they can contribute towards community, national and international progress.

ICT Academy is a training organization that aims to provide training programs in technology and job opportunities to students aspiring in Information Technology. They are based in Sierra Leone, and their mission is to help individuals who may not have the opportunity to attend a university gain the necessary skills and credentials in IT. They offer a variety of IT and training courses, mentorship, and job placement services to help build a strong workforce that can meet the increasing demand for IT professionals in Sierra Leone. Their goal is to bridge the gap between education and job opportunities in the tech industry.

Mission

At ICT Academy our mission is to help Sierra Leoneans who cannot make it to the university attain the essential credentials that show competence in the modern field of Information Technology; And to provide in-demand Information Technology and Cybersecurity training, mentorship and job placement services to build a vibrant Workforce that meets the growing demands for IT professionals in Sierra Leone.

Project 1835 is an organization that focuses on using social entrepreneurship and innovation as vehicles for economic and social development in Sierra Leone. Part of their goals are:

  • Nurturing a community of innovators and entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone
  • Encourage the growth of innovations in education, health, agriculture, environmental protection and management, food production/security, and technology.
  • Build companies that will impact social, economic, and industrial structures.
  • Coach and mentor early-stage startups
  • Develop a platform for growth companies and support the entrepreneurial ecosystem, particularly those who are marginalized (Women and Youth)
